Dr. Mona Monzavi
DMD MS

Dr. Monzavi is a Board-Certified periodontist and Implantologist. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of California Santa Barbara and her doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She pursued her post-graduate studies in the field of periodontology and implantology and completed her post-doctoral degree at Loma Linda University, where she received her certificate in advanced periodontology and implant surgery. During her residency program at Loma Linda, she became passionate about ceramic dental implants and was the first student to ever place a ceramic implant in a dental post-graduate residency program in the USA. Furthermore, she completed a scientific research project on the material properties of ceramic implants in collaboration with the University of California Santa Barbara material research lab. Her publication received awards from the California Society of Periodontology and the Western Society of Periodontology.

She is currently practicing in multiple private practices in Southern California, including Los Angeles and Orange County. She provides periodontal and implant surgical treatments with the latest technology to deliver the most natural and biological treatment modalities for her patients. In addition to her scientific background, she has long-term clinical experience with the surgical placement of ceramic dental implants and utilizes different systems based on each patient’s treatment need. She is actively involved in the field of research on ceramic implants and dedicates a significant amount of her time to further improving the science of these implants.

In France, she completed her latest research publication at the state-of-the-art research facility INSA Lyon (Institut national des sciences appliques de Lyon). Her research received the best scientific research award at the European Society of Ceramic Implantology conference in Zurich, Switzerland.

She is currently completing further pioneering scientific projects on ceramic implants in collaboration with KU Leuven University (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) in Leuven, Belgium.

Dr. Monzavi lectures nationally and internationally on the topic of ceramic dental implantology and currently provides Zirconia implants as a treatment option for superior healing potential, esthetics, and reduced plaque retention.
